Bullis 41, St. Mary’s Ryken 34
For the second consecutive week, the visiting Knights faced a huge deficit in the second half, but this time they were unable to come all the way back in Friday night’s loss to Bullis of Montgomery County, their first of the season.
Bullis (5-0) took an early 13-0 lead, but St. Mary’s Ryken (6-1) rallied to draw even in the second quarter when senior quarterback Kristian Marks connected with sophomore wide receiver Colyn Webster on a 43-yard strike and then hit senior tight end Nick Jaffurs from two yards out to tie the score at 13 with 33 seconds left in the first half.
However, Bullis scored with 10.7 seconds left in the half when senior quarterback Tucker Strachan hit junior Bryson Shaw for 89 yards on a screen to give it a 20-13 halftime lead.
Bullis added three more touchdowns in the third quarter to extend the lead to 41-13.
St. Mary’s Ryken faced a 24-0 halftime deficit in Week 5 versus St. Mary’s of Annapolis and rallied to win 27-24. Friday night versus Bullis, the Knights tried again with three straight touchdowns, including two in the fourth quarter on passes from Marks to junior wide receiver Camden Boyle, the last covering 84 yards, to make it 41-34, but would not get any closer.
La Plata 26, Lackey 14
The defense forced six turnovers as the visiting Warriors spoiled the Chargers’ homecoming with a decisive victory in Indian Head in Friday night's Southern Maryland Athletic Conference Chesapeake Division matchup.
It was the first time since 1999 that La Plata had beaten the Chargers, who were handed their first loss of the season.
The Warriors (4-2, 2-0 SMAC Chesapeake) trailed 7-6 at halftime, but outscored Lackey 20-7 in the second half to cap off the night.
La Plata senior quarterback Jordan Sinclair rushed for two scores and threw a touchdown pass in the game to spearhead the offense.
The Warriors took a 6-0 lead with 50.9 seconds left in the first quarter on a 4-yard touchdown run by Sinclair. Junior quarterback Robert “Boogie” Middleton gave Lackey (5-1, 2-1) a 7-6 lead on a 65-yard touchdown run midway in the second.
However in the third, Sinclair found senior tight end Korey Hamlet on a 3-yard touchdown pass and senior running back Peytyn Gray added a 2-yard touchdown run to push the lead to 18-7 after three quarters.
Sinclair scored a 2-yard touchdown run and Gray ran in the two-point conversion to make it 26-7 early in the fourth.
Middleton threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to senior Jordan Carter on the ensuing drive, but the Warriors held on.
North Point 19, Huntingtown 7
The visiting Eagles were held to their lowest scoring output of the season, but still defeated the Hurricanes in a SMAC Potomac Division contest on Friday night.
North Point (6-0, 2-0 SMAC Potomac) led 6-0 after one quarter and 13-0 at halftime. Huntingtown (1-5, 0-3) closed to within 13-7 early in the third quarter but got no closer.
The lowest offensive scoring output for the Eagles, who were averaging more than 41 points a game coming into the contest, was 21 in a 21-0 win over Westlake in Week 2.

Patuxent 27, McDonough 14
The visiting Panthers picked up their first win of the season with Friday night’s win over McDonough in a SMAC Chesapeake Division contest.
Patuxent (1-5, 1-2 SMAC Chesapeake) led 14-6 at one point en route to winning the contest over McDonough (2-4, 0-3).

Thomas Stone 27, Calvert 7
The Cougars bounced back from their Week 5 loss to Westlake to post a victory over the visiting Cavaliers on Friday night in a SMAC Chesapeake Division contest.
Stone (4-2, 2-1 SMAC Chesapeake) led 6-0 after one quarter and 14-0 at halftime. The 14-point lead stretched into the fourth quarter where the Cougars pulled away despite Calvert (2-4, 0-2) breaking up the shutout with a touchdown.

Northern 33, St. Charles 6
Senior quarterback Reese Crounse threw three passes in the second half of the visiting Patriots' SMAC Potomac Division game at St. Charles on Friday night. All three went for touchdowns, as Northern blew open the game and cruised to the win to improve their season record to 6-0.
Crounse passed for 267 yards and four touchdowns, with senior wide receiver Daniel Horak on the receiving end of six passes for 127 yards and two scores. Senior running back Xavier Harris rushed for a game-high 94 yards and a touchdown, while he also caught three passes for 85 yards and a score.
After a scoreless first quarter, Northern (6-0, 3-0 SMAC Potomac) scored 14 points in the second quarter and took a 14-0 lead into the half.
After the Patriots scored on the opening series of the second half, St. Charles (2-4, 1-2) got on the board on a 56-yard pass from senior quarterback Tyrell Lee to sophomore wide receiver Keith Dickerson. But that proved to be all the Spartans could muster, while Northern quickly scores two more touchdowns in the period to take command.
Chopticon 49, Leonardtown 16
The Braves scored 34 unanswered points to blow open a close game and went on to defeat the visiting Raiders in a SMAC Potomac Division contest on Friday night.
The Braves (5-1, 2-1 SMAC Potomac) led 7-3 late in the first quarter but scored 20 unanswered points in the second quarter and added 14 more in the third.
The 49 points was a season-high for Chopticon, eclipsing the 42 it scored against La Plata in Week 2.
The Braves won their third-straight game against their county rivals and have won 11 of the past 14 matchups since 2004.
Senior quarterback AJ Hunt tossed three touchdowns passes. He threw a 49-yard strike to senior wide receiver Vontae Hoffert to open the scoring, tossed a 4-yard touchdown to senior wide receiver Caleb Bouch in the opening minutes of the second quarter and found senior wide receiver Isaiah Smith from 35 yards out midway through the third.
Hunt also added a 71-yard fourth-quarter touchdown run for the final points of the game.
Hoffert and junior Austin Brown each had an interception for the Braves, while Leonardtown's Curtis Gray had an interception and Ethan Carpenter recovered an onside kick
The Braves led 14-3 late in the first half but pulled away when they scored twice in 1 minute 29 seconds. Senior running back Austin Gregory scored on a 49-yard run and, after Leonardtown turned the ball over on downs, Hoffert ran 50 yards for a score with 53 seconds left in the second period.
The Raiders (0-6, 0-2) got a pair of Spencer Waugh rushing touchdowns — from 2 and 3 yards out — midway through the fourth quarter.
Carpenter put Leonardtown on the board with a career-long 29-yard field goal in the first quarter.
Westlake 45, Great Mills 8
The Wolverines won their fourth in a row with their victory over the visiting Hornets in a SMAC nondivision contest on Friday night.
Westlake (5-1) led 25-0 at halftime en route to the win over Great Mills (1-5), which was coming off its first win of the season, 42-13 over Leonardtown in Week 5.
