Waldorf fire kills six people

"This is now a confirmed six person fatal fire — two adults, four children," according to the state fire marshal's office.

Two adults escaped, and one other adult from the house was not home when the fire broke out.

Investigators remained on the scene Sunday evening to confirm the cause of the fire.

"No evidence has been recovered of a criminal act; and we continue to examine all accidental causes. This will remain an active scene until the late evening hours," according to the fire marshal's office.

Teams consist of deputy fire marshals, Charles County Sheriff’s Office and emergency medical services. They were assisted by the Calvert K-9 Search Team.
