The March 6 letter to the editor "Let’s avoid ‘culture of contempt’" by Vernon Gray suggests that because someone remained silent after an insulting previous letter to the editor that also included false claims about the Biden administration that there was nothing wrong with what they wrote. Some people have apparently missed learning right from wrong and have a very different set of morals.
Just because President Trump says CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins is the “worst reporter” while others remain silent does not make it so. People have a host of reasons why they may not respond to comments and one may be that they were taught to never talk ill of someone else or that they think some people are just not educable and not worthy of wasting their time with trying to enlighten them.
At least 28 women have accused President Trump of various acts of sexual misconduct including rape, assault, unwanted kissing and groping, and walking in on naked pageant contestants. Believe these women and make lying wrong again.
According to a recent New York Times poll, 41% of Americans still support Donald Trump. More than 62% of Americans claim they are Christian.
The Bible is very clear on the call to love immigrants. Scriptures are not silent on this topic.
Just a few examples are: Exodus 22:21 – “You must not mistreat or oppress foreigners in any way.” Deuteronomy 24:17 – “True justice must be given to foreigners living among you and to orphans.” Zechariah 7:9-10 – “Judge fairly and show mercy and kindness to one another. Do not oppress widows, orphans, foreigners, and the poor.” Deuteronomy 10:18-19 – “So you, too, must show love to foreigners, for you yourselves were once foreigners.”
Benjamin Franklin is credited with saying “Experience keeps a dear school, but fools will learn in no other.” It is time for Americans to stop being fools and to stop accepting lies.
Luke 23:34 states, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”
I am feeling like the verse from the 1971 song "Lowdown" by Chicago that states, “The country I was brought up in fell apart and died.”
Hopefully the midterm elections will break the silence and help get our country back on the right track, if we can wait that long.
