St. Mary’s College of Maryland hosts another important Capital Athletic Conference doubleheader on Feb. 4 at the Michael P. O’Brien Athletics & Recreation Center Arena.
St. Mary’s welcomes the nationally-ranked Captains of Christopher Newport University (Va.). The action begins at 2 p.m. with the women's game followed by the men's action at 4 p.m.


The Seahawks need help to take down the conference’s top team in both men’s and women’s basketball, looking for fans to pack and whiteout the arena Feb. 4.


St. Mary’s women's squad is 6-13 on the season and 4-8 in the CAC. Crystal Gibson’s team is currently on the bubble for one of the six CAC tournament spots as the Seahawks sit seventh in the conference standings.
Senior center Nina Haller, this week’s CAC women’s basketball player of the week, almost averaged a triple-double with 18.5 points, 14.0 rebounds, and 7.5 blocks in a 1-1 week for St. Mary’s.


St. Mary's men are now 10-9 overall and have won two straight. The Seahawks are also looking to lock up one of the six playoff berths as Chris Harney’s squad, with a 5-7 conference record, is tied with Penn State-Harrisburg (Pa.) for seventh place.
Junior wing LaVonte Sanders grabbed CAC men’s basketball player of the week honors this week after averaging 17.0 points and 7.0 rebounds in a 2-0 CAC for the Seahawks.
