Chopticon junior Abby Dolinar ended a dramatic SMAC Chesapeake Division field hockey contest with Great Mills that lasted over two hours with a quick, low shot that beat Hornets goalie Lily Wood for the game-winner. The two squads had played to a 1-1 tie through regulation and two overtimes with hosts taking the penalty stroke round, 2-1, to win the contest.

Nearly three weeks after the teams needed penalty strokes to decide their Southern Maryland Athletic Conference Chesapeake Division clash, the Chopticon High School field hockey team avenged a prior setback among similar circumstances to defeat Northern High School in penalty strokes to advance in the Class 3A South Region playoffs.
